Atlantic Highlands Elementary School held its annual Spelling Bee on January 24th.  Students in grades 4-6 competed first in their homerooms and the top 3 spellers from each class advanced to the school-wide competition.

This year’s winner was 6th grader Mason Eldridge, with 6th grader Andrew Chiles in second place and 5th grader Ben Albano in third place.   Prizes for the Spelling Bee were Barnes and Noble Gift Cards from the AHES PTO, who also sponsors AHES’ entrance fees into the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Mason will move on to the Regional Spelldown at Monmouth University on March 13th at 6:00pm.   The regional winner will then move on to the state finals and then to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May 2017.  Best of luck, Mason!

Congratulations to our winners and to all of our AHES super spellers!
