Highlands Elementary School held its second annual Career Day on February 24th.  This year’s event focused on careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM), which is a big initiative in all three Tri-District Schools.   HES hosted a number of local professionals in STEAM related careers for students in grades 3-6.  Each participant gave a short presentation to the students giving them an introduction and description of their field and the different jobs that they do.  Following the presentations, students had the ability to visit the participant’s tables to get more information and ask questions.  Some of the Career Day participants included an Aeronautical Engineer/Airline Pilot, a Chemistry professor, a Glass Blower, a Creative Art Therapist, a Civil Engineer/Land Surveyor/Planner, a Network Engineer and a Research Professor from the Department of Marine and Coastal Science at Rutgers University.   Thank you to everyone who presented at Career Day and took the time to educate our students on all of the STEAM related fields available to them in the future!
